Russian culture through films

It’s well known that films are a highly useful medium for exploring another culture. You will get to learn about Soviet music, how people felt in love and made families, their activities as well beliefs, values, what they ate and how they spent their free time.

For each tour we will select one of the best Russian movies. After the registration we will send you a link to join a Zoom meeting and a link to watch a film with English subtitles.

We will start with a great Soviet romantic comedy ‘The Girls’ (1962). It’s a story about a young cook Tosya Kislitsyna, a naive and eccentric girl that arrives in the Siberian village. She pokes her nose in all matters, seeking to help everyone. Local handsome Ilya starts an affair with Tosya, accompanied by a lot of comical situations …
