The actor voicing McLaren in the American version is Shane Rimmer, who later provided the voice of Thunderbird’s pilot Scott Tracy. (Paul Hubschmid was a Swiss actor).
This looks very much like the storyline used in Meteor.
steve bishop I think it’s the Challenger launch when it went over California or something and it broke the sound barrier and the whole town shook hearing the crash and explosion. And having metal fly everywhere. Idk but that’s what I think
